Enjoy visiting the local shopping districts of the Aso Area as you travel.
"Town Tourism" is a type of travel where visitors can leisurely stroll around small local shopping districts exploring secluded spots and other original sights. Each shopping district has taken various measures to ensure visitors have a good time. For example, in the Monzen Town Shopping District leading up to Aso Shrine, there are special drinking fountains known as "mizuki" that can be found throughout the streets. This abundant supply of gushing Aso spring water has been set up for the enjoyment of visitors.
In the "Uchinomaki Shopping District" there are 9 long-established
public baths, known collectively as "Machiyu." The hot springs
of Machiyu are popular for offering enjoyable bathing experiences in modest
buildings with simple bathtubs, all for low admission fees (starting from
100 yen).
